About Us

A fun fact about Ben: My last name means 'noodles' in Yiddish
A fun fact about Lauren: I've danced at Swaziland's traditional Incwala ceremony

What was your favorite early date?
Ben: One of our first dates was going to see The Tempest at the Shakespeare Theater in DC's Penn Quarter. Not only was the production phenomenal, but we kept finding excuses to extend the date - drinks at Compass Coffee, a walk through the Portrait Gallery, and dinner at Izakaya. That day blew through 4 or so date ideas all at once, but it was worth it!
Lauren: Ben convinced me to go on initial dates with tomato pie from Bayou Bakery and Copycat's dumplings and cocktails, but I think my favorite was seeing The Merchant of Venice and then taking a long walk to talk about it.

Ben: Hey, we both picked Shakespeare dates! Whether we were meant "to be" or "not to be" is pretty clear!

What do you do professionally in D.C.?

Lauren: I work as a strategy consultant for federal agencies on global and public health issues, especially emergency preparedness and response.

Ben: I'm a Congressional affairs and communications specialist at the U.S. Department of Transportation in the Federal Transit Administration.

What are your favorite things to do together?
Ben: Playing board games, hiking, watching weird and interesting movies, taking long walks, and playing with Spica (she's our cat).

Lauren: Hiking, writing together, cooking, and talking about politics. We also really like hosting parties!
